Entry #6- Tattoos

Tattoos

I had gotten my first tattoo when I was 17 years old. I have a cross on my ankle representing my religion. Both my parents have a decent amount of tattoos and I really wanted one for myself. I had asked my mom to sign off on all the paperwork allowing me to get my tattoo before I turned 18 and now I crave more. I believe that tattoos should have a meaning behind them. My cross represents my religion whereas my mom has flowers on her back to represent her kids. Tattoos are becoming more acceptable in the workplace. I do plan on becoming a teacher. So this allows me to get tattoos but I will have to carefully think of the right spots to put them. I am planning on getting them in places that can be covered up so there is no controversy in my tattoos. As long as I can remember my parents have had tattoos and they all have a special meaning behind them. I love and support tattoos. I plan on getting many as my life goes on. Tattoos show off things you love and allow yourself to be creative on your own body. A lot of people do not support tattoos due to the fact that it is permanent ink on your body and feelings could change but I believe that tattoos mean more than that.

  1. I've always wanted to get a tattoo but I was never sure what to get and I am very picky when it comes to something being put permanently on my body but I agree that tattoos should be acceptable especially when they have a meaning behind it.

  3. This is so true I have two tattoos and when I show them off especially in public get looks yet it more acceptable which is kinda odd. I totally agree with covering them and putting them in areas that can not be seen due to the fact there is always going to be someone that does not like something about them.

  4. I totally agree with the idea that tattoos should have meaning behind them especially since they'll be apart of you for the rest of your life. They should represent something in your life with significant meaning to you and, I believe, shouldn't just be a piece of art, unless art is a big part of your life. I'm hesitant on getting any tattoos because I'm not 100% sure if I want an erasable mark on my body, but everybody's different.

  5. I just got my first tattoo in March. I put it on my wrist. I chose the celtic symbol for strength. Not many people can see this tattoo. I put it there for me. When I am in the middle of a marathon, I can look at it and remember that I am strong. The symbol is not just for physical strength either. I have had to be strong through many difficulties in my life. For me, this tattoo is very personal and has a lot of meaning. I can't imagine getting a tattoo that didn't have a lot of meaning. I don't want anymore tattoos, but I do love mine!
